Why don’t clone or third-party pods work in JUUL 2?
When Juul Labs launched JUUL 2, it introduced what it calls JUULpod ID: an authentication chip in each pod that the device checks on insertion. If the pod is not recognised as a genuine JUUL 2 pod, the device will not work with it. The companion JUUL app can also flag incompatible pods.
For buyers, this has two practical effects:
- Refillable or “compatible” JUUL 2 pods are not a real option. Unlike the original JUUL, where third-party pods existed, a JUUL 2 device is designed to reject pods it cannot authenticate.
- A pod that is not recognised is a warning sign. If a sealed pack of JUUL 2 pods will not work in a charged, working device, the pods may not be genuine. That is not the only possible cause – dirty contacts can do it too – but it is worth knowing.
What is the JUUL 2 pods price in the UAE, per ml?
Pack prices are only half the picture because the two JUUL systems use different pod sizes. Here is the arithmetic using our prices at the time of writing:

Per ml of e-liquid, JUUL 2 is about 29% cheaper. Each JUUL 2 pod costs AED 5 more than an original pod, but it holds about 70% more liquid. How long does a JUUL 2 pod last?
Juul Labs does not publish an official puff count for JUUL 2 pods, so treat any number you see online as an estimate. What we can say is that a JUUL 2 pod holds about 1.7 times the liquid of an original 0.7 ml pod, so at the same vaping habits it lasts proportionally longer. As a rough guide:
- Heavy user: about one pod a day, so a 2-pack covers two days.
- Moderate user: one pod every two days or so.
- Light user: three days or more per pod.
The device’s battery (around 350 mAh) is sized to get through roughly a full pod per charge for most people, so a good habit is to dock the device when you change pods.

JUUL 2 device features worth knowing
- Battery: around 350 mAh, larger than the original JUUL’s roughly 200 mAh.
- Charging: magnetic dock connected over USB – there is no charging port on the device itself, so keep the dock with you.
- Smart light: an LED indicator shows battery level and pod e-liquid level.
- App: the JUUL app pairs with the device to show battery and pod level, help locate a lost device, flag incompatible pods, and lock the device against use by anyone else.
- Draw-activated: no buttons; you just inhale.
How to spot fake JUUL 2 pods
- The pack should be factory-sealed, with sharp printing and a printed batch code.
- Strength must read 18 mg/ml. JUUL 2 pods are not made in 3% or 5%; a pack claiming otherwise is not genuine.
- The pods should be recognised by the device straight away. Repeated rejection on a charged device with clean contacts is a red flag.
- A price far below the going rate in the UAE should make you ask questions.
JUUL 2 troubleshooting
Pod not recognised
Remove the pod, wipe the contacts on the pod and inside the device with a dry tissue, and click it back in firmly. Try the second pod from the pack. If both are rejected and the device works with a different genuine pod, the issue is the pods.
No vapour or weak hit
Put the device on its dock to charge, then try again. Check the pod is not empty. Remember that 18 mg/ml is much milder than 5% original JUUL pods; a lighter throat hit is normal, not a fault.
Leaking or spitting
Take slower, gentler draws, and do not leave the device or pods in a hot car or in direct sun. Sudden temperature changes – from a cold office into 45°C outside – can push liquid out of any pod. Wipe the mouthpiece and contacts dry and let the device sit upright for a few minutes.
Light blinking or the device won’t fire
Usually this means the battery is low or the pod has not been accepted. Charge it, reseat the pod, and check the JUUL app if you have it paired – it shows battery and pod status. If the device still will not fire with a full charge and a known-good pod, it may be faulty.
