Al Fakher Shisha Guide: Flavours, 1kg Price and Packing

Al Fakher shisha is a molasses tobacco made in the UAE, and we sell it in 1 kg tubs at AED 155 each at the time of writing (regular price AED 210), in 12 flavours from Two Apples and Grape with Mint to Kiwi and Blueberry. A 1 kg tub gives roughly 50 to 80 bowls depending on how heavily you pack, or about 65 bowls at a typical 15 g. Genuine tubs sold in the UAE must carry an FTA Digital Tax Stamp, which you can check with the official app.

This guide covers the 12 flavours we stock, how to pack a bowl that does not burn, mint mixes worth trying, how to store a big tub in UAE heat, and how to avoid fakes. You can browse every tub on our Al Fakher shisha page.

Al Fakher 1kg price in the UAE

All 12 flavours are the same price with us: AED 155 per 1 kg tub at the time of writing, against a regular price of AED 210. Shisha tobacco carries UAE excise tax, so prices across the market move when excise rules change. At AED 155, a 1 kg tub works out at roughly AED 1.90 to AED 3.10 per bowl, using the 50 to 80 bowl range explained below.

If you smoke shisha regularly at home, the 1 kg tub is the sensible size: smaller packs cost more per gram, and you are not running out every few sessions.

Which Al Fakher shisha flavours do we stock?

Flavour Family Mint built in? Good for
Two Apples Classic No The traditional double apple with an aniseed edge
Grape Fruit No Sweet, easy, mixes with almost anything
Grape with Mint Fruit and mint Yes The most common café order, ready-mixed
Mint Mint Yes Smoking alone or adding coolness to any fruit
Super Lemon Mint Citrus and mint Yes Sharp and cooling; a hot-weather favourite
Orange Citrus No Bright and sweet; good mixer
Orange with Mint Citrus and mint Yes Orange with a cool finish
Watermelon Fruit No Light and juicy; pairs well with mint
Kiwi Fruit No Tangy; lifts sweeter flavours in a mix
Blueberry Fruit No Sweet berry; good with mint
Gum Sweet No Chewing gum flavour, sweet and smooth
Gum with Mint Sweet and mint Yes Classic gum mint in one tub

Al Fakher’s own descriptions are brief: it describes Two Apples as apple with a tart aniseed undertone, Grape as a mixed grape taste, Grape with Mint as grape with a cool menthol finish, and Mint as a classic flavour built around cooling agents. The rest of the table is our plain-language summary of what each flavour name delivers.

How do you pack an Al Fakher bowl?

Al Fakher is a fairly moist, syrupy molasses, which is good for flavour but means it burns if you pack it too tight or too high. A method that works for most setups:

  1. Stir the tub first. The glycerine and syrup settle at the bottom over time. Mix with a fork so you are not getting dry leaf from the top and soaked leaf from the bottom.
  2. Squeeze, do not drain. If a pinch is dripping, gently press out some of the excess liquid. Do not wring it dry; you will lose flavour and smoke.
  3. Fluff, do not press. Sprinkle loose tobacco into the bowl and break up clumps. Do not push it down.
  4. Leave a gap. Fill to about 1–2 mm below the rim so the tobacco does not touch the foil. Touching foil is the usual cause of a harsh, burnt first few pulls.
  5. Foil or heat manager. With foil, stretch it tight and poke plenty of small, even holes. A heat management device does the same job with less fuss.
  6. Heat it up slowly. Start with fewer coals than you think, let the bowl heat for a few minutes, then add or move coals only if the smoke is thin.

Most people pack somewhere between 12 g and 20 g depending on bowl size. If you are unsure, start at the lower end: an underpacked bowl gives thin smoke, an overpacked one burns.

Best Al Fakher mint mixes

Because we stock both plain Mint and four ready-mixed mint flavours, you can control how cooling a bowl is. Some combinations that work well:

  • Grape and Mint, 50/50. Stronger mint than the ready-mixed Grape with Mint tub, for people who like it cold.
  • Two Apples and Mint, 70/30. Takes the edge off the aniseed while keeping the classic profile.
  • Watermelon and Mint, 60/40. Light and cooling; a summer bowl.
  • Blueberry and Mint, 60/40. Sweet berry with a cold finish.
  • Super Lemon Mint and Watermelon, 50/50. Citrus, melon and cool together.
  • Gum and Grape, 50/50. Sweet and smooth; add a pinch of Mint if it feels heavy.
  • Orange and Kiwi, 50/50. Tangy and bright, no mint.

For mixes, combine the tobacco in a small bowl before packing so each pull tastes the same, rather than layering one flavour on top of another.

How long does 1 kg of Al Fakher last?

Our estimate, with the assumption stated: at 15 g per bowl, a 1 kg tub gives about 66 bowls. At a light 12 g it is about 83 bowls; at a heavy 20 g it is 50 bowls.

Bowl size Bowls per 1 kg At 2 bowls a week At 1 bowl a day
12 g About 83 About 9–10 months About 2.5 months
15 g About 66 About 7–8 months About 2 months
20 g 50 About 6 months About 7 weeks

These are arithmetic, not promises. In practice you lose a little to spills and to squeezing out excess syrup, and if you open the tub often in a hot room it will slowly dry out, which is the real limit for light smokers. That is where storage matters.

How should you store Al Fakher shisha in the UAE?

  • Keep the lid tight. Air dries the tobacco and dulls the flavour. Always reseal straight after taking out a bowl’s worth.
  • Keep it cool and out of the sun. A closed cupboard away from windows and the oven is fine. Never leave a tub in the car.
  • Decant for slow use. If one tub will last you months, split it into a few smaller airtight containers so most of it stays sealed while you work through one.
  • Stir before each session. Syrup settles over time, especially in a tub that sits for weeks.
  • Clean tools. Use a dry fork or spoon. Water or ash in the tub encourages mould.

If a tub develops a fuzzy growth or smells sour or musty, throw it away.

How do you tell genuine Al Fakher from fake?

The single most useful check in the UAE is the Digital Tax Stamp. The Federal Tax Authority made Digital Tax Stamps mandatory for water pipe tobacco: importing unstamped product was banned from 1 March 2020, and supplying or possessing it from 1 January 2021 after a postponement. You can scan the stamp with the FTA’s official FTA DTS app to check that it is valid, enter the code manually if it will not scan, and report suspect products through the app.

Other signs to check:

  • Seal. A new tub should be sealed under the lid. A missing or broken inner seal is a reason to refuse it.
  • Print quality. Fuzzy logos, spelling errors or colours that look off compared with the usual packaging.
  • Texture and smell. Genuine Al Fakher is moist and the flavour is clearly recognisable on opening. Bone-dry leaf, a chemical smell or a flavour that does not match the label are warning signs.
  • Price. A 1 kg tub far below normal market prices is unlikely to have paid excise and carry a valid stamp.

Every tub we sell is sealed, genuine stock.

Shisha, health and age

Shisha is smoked tobacco. The World Health Organization’s advisory note on waterpipe smoking says waterpipe smoke contains plenty of the toxicants that cause disease in cigarette smokers, and describes the belief that shisha is safer than cigarettes as a fallacy. It is an adult product: not for under-18s, non-smokers or pregnant women.

If you are a shisha smoker who also vapes, our Al Fakher Crown Bar flavour guide shows which vape flavours match your usual tubs, such as Two Apple, Grape Mint and Gum Mint.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Al Fakher 1kg price in the UAE?

We sell every Al Fakher 1 kg flavour at AED 155 at the time of writing, down from a regular price of AED 210. Market prices change with excise rules and supply, so check the product page for today’s price.

Is Al Fakher made in the UAE?

Yes. Al Fakher molasses tobacco is made in the UAE, and the brand is one of the best-known shisha tobaccos in the region.

What is the best Al Fakher flavour?

Two Apples and Grape with Mint are the classic choices and a safe first tub. If you prefer something cooling, Super Lemon Mint is popular in the summer, and plain Mint lets you add as much coolness as you like to any fruit flavour.

How many grams of shisha go in one bowl?

Usually 12 g to 20 g, depending on bowl size and style. Start around 12–15 g, fluff-pack it and keep it just below the rim, then adjust if the smoke is too thin.

How can I check an Al Fakher tub is genuine?

Scan the Digital Tax Stamp with the FTA DTS app from the Federal Tax Authority, which confirms whether the stamp is valid. Also check the inner seal is intact and the print and texture look right.

Does Al Fakher shisha expire?

Sealed tubs keep well, but once opened the tobacco slowly dries and loses flavour, faster in a warm room. Keep the lid tight, store it somewhere cool and dark, and discard any tub that shows mould or smells sour.
